Each year, Thanksgiving is a day where we get to say thank you to the people who have made a positive impact in our lives. At Trustmark, the obvious people we need to thank are our policyholders, who we have the great privilege to protect, and our business partners, who we have the opportunity to work with. As I got to thinking about it though, I realized that the most important part of gratitude isn’t saying you’re grateful, it’s showing you’re grateful.

In the last year, Trustmark has changed the way we present ourselves in the market. One of the reasons we did this was to share a more cohesive story about our company; but another reason was to help ourselves express who we are more clearly. In planning for this change, we identified key characteristics of our company, among which were caring, responsiveness, a client-first approach and a never-ending pursuit of betterment. To me, that’s the best way show gratitude; not by saying it, but by showing you appreciate someone by caring, listening to them and always trying to do a better job on their behalf.

Caring applies to our communities just as much as it does to the business world. This year, we’ve tried to show this at Trustmark by offering what we call “Days of Caring”. These days allow employees to take paid time off for volunteer opportunities. Along with the financial contributions our company and our employees make to charitable organizations, we try and carry forward the attitude of caring and gratitude for what we have by sharing it with others.

So, while we will use this Thanksgiving to say we are thankful to our policyholders and partners, more importantly, today I’d like to reaffirm Trustmark’s commitment to showing gratitude to our partners and the members of our community year-round.
